It still worked (I don't think it will now of course!) but it was so dirty after being on so many building sites I'm surprised it did at all!

Radio/CD Player.
This was absolute hell taking apart.

Geofiction.
I found this really cool website where people have imagined their own locations and then drawn maps for them - whole cities, its incredible because you'd have to plan everything! And they do it for fun!!
I love info graphics and get excited over keys on maps - sad, i know, but this - I don't think my brain could handle it. So not only does it deal with the idea of maps, but the location is hidden because it is not real/hidden in imagination until the person who dreamt it notes it down.
"On this site you'll find a collection of cities. Perhaps you'd like to visit some of which (or not) if you belong to the group of people who can infer, by looking at a 2-dimensional, schematic city map, that the respective city is a very nice (or ugly) place.
You'll have to leave it at your imagination—or take it as a special kind of art: You won't find these cities on our globe (nor on another one). This complex hobby is called geofiction and there's quite a big group of people worldwide who have this interest. There are many variations in the way of presenting these cities, in scale and level of detail. But they all have in common that they do not strive to create fantastic worlds with its own physical and natural laws like Tolkien did, for example. Their aim is to imagine new combinations of all variables that affect our daily (urban) life on this planet in a spatial way. It's also not about creating new cities on empty spaces: The cities that are presented here are urban structures with a long history."

Map Idea...
So I was thinking...
The places where items are made are usually generalised, therefore the real location is hidden from us (to an extent.)
So with the laptop in mind, I looked at where it would have been manufacture specifically from a factory etc.
I couldn't find anything which was a major pain, but then I thought about HQ and head offices - every company has them!
With HP they even have HPLabs, where the software would have been developed so I used these locations for this particular idea.

Circuit Maps?
When taking the laptop apart I found myself thinking the circuit board looked like a bird's eye view of the earth, with the components looking like buildings etc - like a map.
So with that in mind...
Could I incorporate this somehow?

Circuit diagrams
Could be something to explore - the circuit diagrams of items - the item is 'concealed' as such behind symbols and lines and numbers. I think they create interesting shapes - something to potentially play/experiment with?
